An ideal location to escape the tourists and explore the Yucatan. Rather than stay in a commercial hotel or an all-inclusive, you will stay in a beautiful century-old home complete with 18-foot ceilings, a lovely garden and a beautiful pool. Casa Lunita is located in the center of the small, yet bustling Villa de Baca.

The century-old house been minimally restored with masonry repair, additional bathrooms, upgraded electricity and plumbing, the addition of ceiling fans, chandeliers, internet, a modern kitchen, and a pool — while keeping its original character intact.

The sala, portico, dining room, kitchen courtyard and portico are shared spaces.The garden has a couple of seating  areas and there is a small terrace on the roof. The large sala has a projector for watching DVDs on the wall, a desk and small library.  The dining room has a few old Maya and colonial artifacts that were found while renovating. The garden is an ongoing and exciting project. It has orange, lime, sour orange and coconut palm tees, succulents and cycads and ever-changing flowers and herbs.

The people of Baca are warm and friendly. There is lots of activity year-round in the central plaza and church. There is a market that has fresh fish on Wednesdays and Friday. There are many excellent cocinas económicas and lots of grilling going on every weekend. .Local people make and sell their own honey and honey products, hammocks, artwork and delicious Yucatecan food. Bus service is readily available to Merida and beyond.
